Artist in Residency

Artwork for your school

Instead of "buying" artwork, you can allow your students to watch and interact. Students will see a professional artist in action and how the art is created inch by inch. The finished mural is made of 1 -inch thick red cedar and is 6 feet square. There are many designs to choose from or Ronn will create an orginal for your school. This design will then be the same for your "silk-screening" workshop if used with our other programs. With over 70 schools in Washington displaying Ronn's originals, references are available. The finished mural will then be presented to your school at the assembly or evening performance. (Great time for picture taking with students)

Time:

Allow one full day in your school.

Space Required:

Working area, 8x8 sqare feet. Best where students can watch progress.

Note:

This works really well with "Echoes of the Raven's Cry" or other full day programs.

Young Author's Day

"Legends of the Longhouse"

Ronn will transport students into the mythical and magical world of the NW Coast cultures. From the warnings of the "Mouse Woman" and the "Legacy of the Salmon People." These ageless legends teach simple but important lessons of life. Authentic Visual aids (the Wilson family museum box) are brought in as a "hands-on" workshop to help students learn the relationships between the art forms and the rich history from which these legends are drawn. These activities help prepare students to "create" their own legends as Mr. Wilson walks them thought the "building blocks" of each legend.

Workshops:

30 minutes to 1 hour in length, based on grade levels and number of students. Max of 6 per day.
